How to get ready for your iPhone

Oh boy!!! One more week to go until the iPhone goes on sale. I'm sure there are people camping out already. If you are planning on getting an iPhone as soon as possible, Apple has posted a list of what you can do in order to use the phone with your stuff right away. Basically:

  • get your contacts and calendar up to date in Outlook or Yahoo

  • get a Yahoo Mail, GMail, AOL mail or .mac mail account or the info for your pop3/imap mail settings

  • pick out your favorite photos/music to load

  • make sure you have the latest iTunes loaded

  • have a iTunes Store Account

  • find you're local AT&T or Apple Store

  • get in line

I actually added the last one. I am curious how hard the phone will be to get. I'm usually lusting after the lastest technology and the iPhone is very appealing but I'm not convinced it that much better than my Q phone on Verizon. At least it's not $600 better.

Another issue that I see with the phone is the multi-touch interface. Like many people, I use my phone in my car with a headset and voice recognition. I'd rather not fumble with the screen while driving. With my Q, I can basically feel the keys without taking my eyes off the road.

As the name of my site implies, I'd like to see what "native" applications become available and on what timeframe.

I'm sure we'll hear alot about how fantabously and insanely great the phone is by the first people who get it but let's give it a week before the verdict is in. My guess is that it will be great, but have some issues.
