Sorry Steve.. Apple does the right thing.

Anyone who bought the phone in the past two weeks, get's $200 CREDIT at apple store. Otherwise, you get $100 credit at the store. Not money in your pocket but it is the right thing to do. Apple doesn't say they were totally wrong, but partially wrong and had bad timing. I guess they should have brought it out at $399 to avoid everything. Maybe they didn't have the inventory or wanted to wait to see what the demand would be. Now that they've ramped up manufacturing for the Holiday Season, they can increase demand for the iPhone through a price cut.

In Summary, 1: $399 is the right price point, 2: Prices always go down, don't complain, 3: Mea Culpa to our Apple Fans.

Read the whole memo here.
The end is the "quasi"-mea culpa.
Therefore, we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple's website next week. Stay tuned.

We want to do the right thing for our valued iPhone customers. We apologize for disappointing some of you, and we are doing our best to live up to your high expectations of Apple.

Steve Jobs
Apple CEO

This has done much to remove my buyers remorse.

Third iPhone Class Action Suit Filed

The third one is for the enormous roaming charges for the iPhone while in Europe. The first two deal with the sealed battery and related charges. Want to bet that the FOURTH class action suit deals with $200 price cut.

iPod Touch Runs Same Applications as iPhone

You may be asking yourself where is Mail, Weather, Google Maps or Stocks in the new iPod touch. The answer: they are coming, but probably not from Apple. The iPod runs Mac OS X like the iPhone does and we have got unofficial word from inside Apple that it runs exactly the same applications. The exact quote: "they use the same damn binaries."

One Million PISSED iPhone Owners

Update: Apple is ALL EARS about their iPhone. Let them know how you feel about it at: iphone/share

Lowering the price by ONE THIRD less than TWO Months after you release a highly anticipated product!!!!! How fast can you say CLASS ACTION SUIT. I'm not a person who's first thought is to sue, but in this case, I'm PISSED. Yes I was thrilled over the past month with my iPhone and I do like the device, but I lost a third of my investment in 1 month!!! Had I waited, I'd still have my Q on Verizon and get a iPod Touch for $300-$400 with wifi and safari.

Install Third-Party Applications on Your iPhone

In less than two-months time, a persistent and merry band of iPhone hackers have been pushing out application after killer application for the iPhone, and hacking your iPhone to install those applications has become dead simple. Is this going to open everyone to Viruses? I'm not going to make the jump for a while on this. Maybe Apple will announce something tomorrow.

'The Beat Goes On' Rumor Roundup

Last week, Apple sent out invitations for a media event on September 5th, 2007. The invitations pictured Apple's Cover Flow interface as well as a scene from the Mi Swing Es Tropical iPod ad. The caption on the invite reads "The beat goes on." Based on this alone, it seems clear that Apple w...

Hacker makes iPhone home screen scroll

From "lg", the same guy who brought you Installer.app, comes this new iPhone hack that lets you load as many icons as you want onto your iPhone home screen. It's still a little buggy but I have 32 applications loaded onto my screen right now and I can just flick my way to the one I want, even if the one I want is that baffling Magenta
