Slim Aluminum MacBooks Coming Soon from Apple

Details from the same people who had accurate info on the latest iPods.I predict that this will be 100% on the money...not because of their past success, but because I just purchased a macbook 2 weeks ago. I'm sure the new one will be faster, lighter, more memory, faster, larger hard disk, and of course, cheaper than the $1500 + $100 memory (2GB) + $60 mouse + $20 DVI out. I'm sure it will come with the new OS X that I'll have to shell out $100 for too.I'm not complaining, just par for the course with my history of buying technology.

How does a Macbook Pro handle every application opening at once? (PIC)

What's your guess? If you accidentally open every application on your Macbook Pro at one time, will it crash or can it handle the load? It's running 10.4.10 with 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 3 GB of DDR2 SDRAM. After 12 minutes of churning along and in internal temp of over 160 degrees F, this is what happened...

I know it's not iPhone related, but it does show how robust OS X is and the great job Apple has done with this platform.

Apple's fight against iPhone unlocks may result in expensive bricks

Apple's Steve Jobs said yesterday that the company would actively work against those who perform a SIM unlock on their iPhones. This isn't surprising news, but we believe that the consequences for unlockers could be pretty high.

Could this be what's holding up the 1.1 rev for the iPhone? I haven't taken the leap to unlock the phone and run native apps (like Nintendo!!!) but may do it after the 1.1 update. One the the phone does lack is some native games.

iPhone v1.1.1 Feature Breakdown (8 and counting)

Engadget got their hands on v1.1.1 iPhones at Apple's London event this morning. I thought I would breakdown the 8 new features I have gathered from examining there photos.ALRIGHT!!! new Calculator icon!!!! I was waiting for when they would change the lame icon on the iPhone. Actually, there are 7 other items that are much more important. Make sure you check the link for pictures of each feature.

  • Now Playing controls throughout. I've complained about this before and thankfully, it's on the way.

  • Double clicking home screen goes to "Favorites" or "iPod"

  • iTunes Wifi Store. No surprise there. It's already running on the Touch.

  • Additional iPod features: Closed captioning and support for video out.

  • New Calculator icon on the home screen. Hmmm, okay.

  • Multiple, international keyboards.

  • Network setup with VPN support and disabling EDGE while roaming. Goodbye $3,000 international roaming bills.

  • Mysterious "Carrier" menu. My personal hope would be support for other carrier's SIMs internationally within the iPhone family. For example, I travel to England and can insert an O2 SIM.

Disappearing $100 iPhone Store Credit: The Solution

We've been getting reports of people's $100 iPhone gift certificate actually having a balance of $0 when they go to use it. And by reports, we mean myself. It happened to me. But there's actually a solution!I just wish they had a solution for people who changed their number when they switched to AT&T. I switched from Verizon and I'm having a hard time (3 emails to support) getting an answer on how to get my $100.

UPDATE: Got mine. I haven't tried it yet. I'll be waiting for the next rev of OS X coming in October.

iPhone features you'll miss out on by buying an iPod touch

Here is a (preliminary) list of things you'll lose out on by buying an iPod touch... Couldn't have said it better myself. I was very surprised at the lack of volume buttons and dock. It does come with the lamest piece of plastic that they call the iPod Touch Stand. I had no idea what it was. There is also a piece of plastic that is supposed to fit in a dock to make the iPod Touch fit... this doesn't work with the iPhone dock.
