iPhone Firmware 1.1.1 Is Out, Now Testing

Just released, ready in your iTunes. If you have an unlocked iPhone, be aware that this firmware may make your iPhone unusable. We are testing it right now. Come back here for updates.It's a 153mb download. I'm in the middle of updating it now. Almost done.. My phone was not unlocked or hacked in any way. It took about 10 minutes to download, install, verify, and reboot. It's bringing up a screen on boot that says - WAITING FOR ACTIVATION... I'm in.. iTunes on the main screen, ringtones in iTunes on my Laptop... looks good so far.

Forget iPhone Bricking: All Third-Party Apps Void Your iPhone Warranty


Apple just confirmed that running any third party app will bust up your warranty. Pretty bad way to reward the programmers who made the iPhone better than stock.The key phrase in this is this:
Apple plans to release the next iPhone software update, containing many new features including the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store (www.itunes.com), later this week.



If you've already unlocked or added third party apps, the key phrase is this:
permanently inoperable

Apple says iPhone unlocking may leave handsets "permanently inoperable"


Apple said Monday that many of the unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the Internet cause irreparable damage to the iPhone's software, which will likely result in the modified iPhone becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iPhone software update is installed.
